Growth, But With Conditions: Revisiting Dependency Theory

I've come to understand power in today's world in economic terms, especially when viewing the disparities between the Global North and Global South. An academic interest of mine is the creation of the debt regime, and consequently, the domination it has upheld. Moreover, I have an interest in how settler colonies propagate their powers in the economic dimension. Dependency theory is an interesting lens to utilize for such an analysis. Hence, that was the topic of my policy research paper.

Responses To Forced Migration: The Domination Of The Body and The Mind

In my third year, one of my favorite courses was POLI 369D, which examined forced migration. In my final paper, I sought to answer the question: "Are responses to forced migration colonial in nature?"

My answer was yes. I exemplifed that through the idea of domination. However, I had two avenues of thought: the domination of the mind through media (framing of migrants) and the domination of the body through policed practices that migrants are subjected to.

War On Climate: The Other War That The US Military Is Fighting

'War On Climate' is a research paper that I've written for my Global Environmental Politics class in my third year. I must not forget to highlight how proud I am of the title I've chosen... it's a play on 'War on Terror'. This paper is quite important to me as I continue to consider a career in policy making.
